متن کاملNonstandard Consequence Operators
In 1963, Abraham Robinson applied his newly discovered nonstandard analysis to formal firstorder languages and developed a nonstandard logic [9] relative to the “truth” concept and structures. Since that time not a great deal of fundamental research has been attempted in this specific area with one notable exception [2]. However, when results from this discipline are utilized they have yielded ...
متن کاملGeneral Logic-systems and Consequence Operators
In this paper, general logic-systems are investigated. It is shown that there are infinitely many finite consequence operators defined on a fixed language L that cannot be generated from any finite logicsystem. It is shown that any set map C:P(L) → P(L) is a finite consequence operator if and only if it is defined by a general logic-system.
متن کاملGeneral Logic-Systems that Determine Significant Collections of Consequence Operators
It is demonstrated how useful it is to utilize general logic-systems to investigate finite consequence operators (operations). Among many other examples relative to a lattice of finite consequence operators, a general logic-system characterization for the latticetheoretic supremum of a nonempty collection of finite consequence operators is given. Further, it is shown that for any denumerable la...
متن کاملEpistemic logic and logical omniscience: A survey
This survey brings together a collection of epistemic logics and discusses their approaches in alleviating the logical omniscience problem. Of particular note is the logic of implicit and explicit belief. Explicit belief refers to information actively held by an agent, while implicit belief refers to the logical consequence of explicit belief. Ramifications of Levesque’s logic include nonstanda...
